February 2025 – USCG TRACEN Yorktown hosted a captain’s licensing course for its members where nine Coast Guard members completed their commercial captain’s course. This course enables them to earn up to a 100 Ton Master credential with an assistance tow endorsement. The nine members consisted of active and reserve members ranging in ranks from E5 to O5 with a variety of rates represented. Bravo Zulu to these Coasties!

Congratulations to Liz for the high score of 158 – she only missed two questions on the OUPV (aka six-pack) exam! As a prize for earning the highest score she won a Pathfinder branded JBL speaker.

This is the first group course where we’ve had someone fly in to participate in the in-person day as students are typically stationed at the course location. Glenn, thanks for making the trip from Miami to Yorktown!

“I’ll start by saying that from the moment I contacted Pathfinder they were very friendly and helpful. I could tell that I was in good hands. Afterward Bobby reached out and sent me the course material directly to my home in Florida that same day. The training course is dense but it’s what got me through the course. Finally the exam day Bobby provided reviews which cemented everything in. Great teacher and school.”
