What to Expect

When you enroll in the NMU-hosted OUPV course, the dedicated NMU team will assist you throughout the entire process. Your instructor will lead the video learning sessions and the in-person reviews. While each in-person review session may vary based on class they will typically take place on weekends and will last 4-8 depending on student needs.

While onsite at NMU, the Pathfinder team will also offer Red Cross First-Aid/CPR training and will coordinate drug screens at an additional cost. Both of these are required as part of the license application so the in-person sessions can become a “one-stop-shop” for your application.

The first NMU onsite session will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 from 9 am to 4 pm.

Frequently Asked Questions

If I can’t attend my scheduled in-person training, can I join a later training?

Assuming there is an open seat, you sure can! While PMT will do everything we can to accommodate your schedule change requests, we do ask for patience in the event there are no available seats in the next training. Either way, we’ll work with you to find a solution!

Do you offer private, blended or in-person courses?

We sure do! We love working with groups, such as yacht clubs, military units, or sailing teams, and are happy to coordinate private courses.

Why do blended courses seem to vary?

Based on location and time, PMT’s cost, such as training room costs, may vary. While PMT does everything possible to keep consistent pricing, sometimes our prices may vary.

Are there any prerequisites?

Prerequisites depend upon the course. Check out the “Learn More” section of each course to learn about required prerequisites. Generally, each course has a minimum sea time requirement.

What happens if I have to retake my exam?

We’ll work with the instructor to coordinate a retake time and location. If an in-person retake doesn’t work out, you can also use our online testing option.

Do you offer your military, veteran, and first-responder discounts apply to blended courses?

Of course! The tuition assistance programs, such as COOL, also apply to our blended courses.
