September 2025 – Seventeen dedicated members of Coast Guard Station Belle Isle, located on the Detroit River in Michigan, celebrated a major professional development milestone after successfully completing the training and examination requirements to earn their commercial National Master Mariner Credential.
This impressive feat demonstrates the unit’s commitment to professional development and superior maritime proficiency. Members of the unit earned licenses, with qualifications ranging up to the highly sought-after Master credential, signifying their capability to command and operate various vessels on the challenging waters of the Great Lakes. Earning the Master credential requires extensive sea time, proven competence, and passing comprehensive examinations, making this a truly commendable achievement for the entire group.
