Master Increase in Scope
This course is designed for mariners who hold a Master Inland/Great Lakes credential and want to increase the scope of their credential to Near Coastal waters. In other words, completing this course will allow Inland/Great Lakes captains to operate on Near Coastal waters. This course is approved by the National Maritime Center (NMC), and its NMC course code is PATHFR-291.
Required sea service: 720 days of which 360 days are on Great Lakes or Near Coastal waters
Course Length:~19 hours
NMC Exam Codes: Q160 (Deck General) and Q162 (Navigation General, Near Coastal). Each exam is 50 questions and has a minimum passing score of 70%.
If you have a colregs restriction on you credentials, you will need to take our Rules of the Road course to remove this restriction. Hint, your mariner’s credentials will call out whether or not your colrges is valid for Near Coastal waters.
