This four hour course covers many aspects of sailing and builds on your 180+ days of sailing experience. Based on experience requirements, this courses assumes you have a minimum understanding of sailing.

This course meets the National Maritime Center requirements for the Auxiliary Sail endorsement. After completing the course, if you wish to further your sail education, we recommend pursuing an American Sailing Association (ASA) certification. Upon request, we are happy to recommend an ASA course and school.

This course has six lessons and one quiz.


Before You Begin

This course contains seven lessons. To begin, use the โ€œExpandโ€ under the โ€œCourse Contentโ€ section to view lessons. 

Once expanded, you will see all available lessons. Lessons with a โ€œgreen checkmarkโ€ indicate that the lesson or assessment has been completed. Lessons without a โ€œgreen checkmarkโ€ indicate the lesson or assessment is not complete. It is recommended students complete courses in numerical order.

To view a lesson, click on the lesson. This will take you to the lesson page where you can view the lesson content.

You can also navigate the course using the sidebar on the right hand side of your screen. 

To begin an assessment or quiz, click the โ€œStart Quizโ€ button. 

Read the question and select the appropriate answer. Once the answer is selected, click the โ€œNextโ€ button to move to the next question. Some quizzes may allow you to return to previous questions to adjust your answer. Use the โ€œBackโ€ button to return to previous questions. 


While it may seem early, begin thinking about scheduling your exam ahead of time. We will need a minimum of two weeks to locate and schedule an approved proctor site. Once you have potential dates, please fill out the exam scheduling form.
