If you operate any of the following vessels you are required by the Federal Communication Commission and USCG to have a Marine Radio Operators Permit license:
• All vessels with a length of 65 feet or more
• All inspected vessels carrying passengers for hire (includes Great Lakes inspected vessels)
• All vessels subject to the Radiotelephone Act
• All towing vessels 26 feet and over
• All vessels going to ports in other countries
This course consists of 8 lessons and is designed to prepare you for the FCC Marine Radio Operator exam. Please take the time to thoroughly understand the material as you will be expected to meet all FCC, marine operator standards once you hold a license.
While it may seem early, begin thinking about scheduling your exam ahead of time. We will need a minimum of two weeks to locate and schedule an approved proctor site. Once you have potential dates, please fill out the exam scheduling form.
